RE: Winter/early spring camping

Up here early spring isn't until May - We fish, ride bikes, play outdoor games, frisbee golf, hike trails. Fall is Sept/Oct - Play games, ride bikes, take nature walks (look at fall wildlife & tree colors). Pretty much the same as summer, only during summer we add swimming, boating and all water sports.

RE: Summer 2009 - Bad Lands / Black Hills / Rocky Mtn NP

Deadwood and Badlands are interesting, not a whole day's worth though...Don't forget to spend some time hiking, Harney Peak etc. There are some beautiful views and it's nice to get out into nature. In addition there is a great biking trail, the Mickelson Trail, which is an old railroad track that is now for bikes that winds from north to south through the hills. Some absolutely wonderful scenery away from the beaten paths. You can either walk for ride bikes. The caves are fun, Wind Cave National park is also very nice. State Game Fish and Parks have lots of fun, free programs at Custer State Park...We went last summer and my kids said it was the best vacation ever!! Have fun...

RE: Any good ideas for travelling board games?

How about a book of different card games and deck of cards. I have "Card Games for Dummies" and we've learned several new to us card games and had fun learning them.

RE: Memory Foam Topper

We have a 2 inch from Overstock. Fits just great and love it! $70 and free shipping. It doesn't move at all and we still use regular sheets. Was going to get the 1" for $40, but went with the 2" for $30 more and it is great! I bought a cheap 1" from Target and cut in half for the kids bunk beds and they also love it!

RE: Where do you store your towels?

I have 2 tension shower rods in my shower that we use for hanging towels, but I LOVE the hanger idea!!! We always run out of room, between bath and beach towels for everyone and using the hangers would create a ton more room!! I have some extra clip hangers in the attic and am going to get those down and put in the TT today!!
In addition, love the trash bag holder idea too....
Thanks for the idea and you can learn something new everyday!

RE: heartland north trail vs. skyline layton

We have a Skyline and have had no issues or problems with the unit. I've had some issues with my oven, but that's an appliance issue not anything with skyline. I've called their customer service with questions and had great results. I would not be afraid to buy another skyline...

RE: Where do you store your towels?

Our TT has a closet with a hanging rod. I bought one of the hanging sweater holders (6 "boxes") and put that in the closet. It works great. I roll up the clean towels and can store 6 towels in each of the "spaces".

RE: Pilot Light in Oven Not Staying Lit-Question

Thanks for everyone's answers!!! I've taken off the knob and tried pushing it in manually, with no luck. However, I am going to give the cardboard a try tomorrow night. My dealership is not putting their best foot forward on this deal. I know it's not a big deal to them, but it is to me and I paid alot of money for the new thermocoupler and it still doesn't work and they just don't be seeming to getting around to looking at it again!! Just needed a little vent....thanks for listening....However, how do I light the burner manually?????

Pilot Light in Oven Not Staying Lit-Question

Ok, I've read the manual and can't figure this oven thing out!! I hold in the knob (in the light pilot light area) and use the lighter to light the pilot light. As long as I hold in the knob, the pilot light stays lit. As soon as a let up on the knob to turn to an oven temp the pilot light goes out. I just had a new thermocoupler installed. I've sat on the floor and held in the knob and lit the pilot light and held it for a long time and tried this, I would say close to 15 times (almost 1 hr). If you hold in the button long enough, the whole tube (burner) lights up, but again as soon as I let up on the knob the light goes out. I've lit the burners on the stove and also ran the fridge on gas, so I know I've got gas in the line.
What can I possibly do to get this dumb thing to work????? Can anyone help me....Thanks....

RE: Mt. Rushmore

We also just stayed there in June/July 08, we also stayed in Custer State Park. We stayed at the Grace Coolidge campgound, just a few miles from the Game Lodge Campground. It was absolutely beautiful, $22 per night for electric. Clean restroom and the willdife was terrific. Short drive to Mt Rushmore and a lot of other attractions. We also saw buffalo, big horn sheep, deer, burros, prong horns and had the red squirres. The deer were right in our campground and a buffalo walked by along the road. Hope you have a great time!!

RE: Campgrounds in South Dakota?

Watertown SD has a nice campground. It has monthly rates and full hookups. Watertown is the home of the Terry Redlin museum, has a nice small zoo, some shopping, the Bodies Human exihibit and is only 1 1/2 hrs from Sioux Falls, so that is a great day trip. Don't know if you fish, but there is great fishing up there. The campground has a nice wildlife trail and is located on Lake Kampeska. It's a nicely run park. The campground is called Codington County Memorial RV Park. The phone number is 605-882-6290. Enjoy your trip.....

RE: Whats your routine?

I also use the checklists, however have 2 large clear tubs that are in the basement. 1 is for TT extras that were needed from the last trip (i.e. paper plates, cups, TP, sunscreen etc). When I buy those things I put them in the tub in the basement. The other one is for non perishable food, when I buy those things they also go in the that tub, ready for the next trip. That way when we are ready to go, just take the 2 tubs out to the TT and load up. In addition, for all the outside things (awning rug, BBQ, small propane bottles, etc) I bought one of the really large storage tubs with wheels. That tub is always outside of the TT and has all of our outdoor things in it. It is always packed and ready to go so all we need to do is put it in the back of the pickup and go. It gets easier with time, so hang in there and find a system that works for you.
